Overview

For over 40 years, Honda has made the Civic the standard-bearer for the compact sedan segment of the automotive industry. With each new generation, the Civic has strengthened the reach of its cult following among car buyers, who love it because of its simple yet reliable design. The lightweight engine packs more than enough punch for the lightweight but sturdy frame, and the Civic's spacious interior has always served as a palette for Honda’s innovative technology in both the safety and entertainment realms.

The Perfect Ride for…

Drivers who want efficient performance with an affordable price and tons of critical acclaim. The 2018 Civic’s in-line four-cylinder engine may not sound like a lot, but the engine's lightweight construction means that power can be put to good use on the road, and its smart design means it saves the driver in fuel costs. Not only will it save the driver in fuel costs, but Honda has made the Civic more affordable than ever with the current model starting at only $18,840 for the LX.1 Add in the applause this year's Civic gets from the critics, including a 5-star Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration2, so it's easy to see why so many people love the new Civic.

Drive & Handling

Honda offers the 2018 Civic in several trims with two different engine options, allowing you to choose between quick and quicker. The base model comes with a 158-hp 2.0-liter normally-aspirated engine, while the premium EX-L, EX-T, and Touring packages sport a turbocharged upgrade that boosts performance to a noticeably more powerful 174 horsepower. In the handling, you’ll feel the advantage of the Civic’s longer wheelbase and wider, aggressive stance, especially with the standard MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspensions. All packages offer either a 6-speed manual transmission or automatic, and the Continuously Variable Transmissions are matched to each available engine type to optimize power without sacrificing fuel efficiency.

Key Features

360-degree Awareness

Honda engineers have strategically squeezed the latest in miniature camera technology into the 2018 Civic. The Multi-Angle Rearview Camera offers three different views for backing up safely and easily: normal, top-down, and wide. Additional small cameras installed on the side-view mirrors make lane-switching easier and safer, too. With Honda LaneWatch™, just flip on the turn signal and the dashboard display will show live video from the side-view mirror cameras, so you can see what’s in the lane beside you before you merge.

Truly Wireless Driving

You can easily enjoy content on your smartphone or tablet using the standard Bluetooth® or USB connection, or sync your device to stream more than 30 million songs available on Pandora®, Spotify®, Apple Music®, or any other streaming service. If talk “radio” is more your style, you can stream thousands of podcasts covering a variety of subjects from the latest political discourse to hot celebrity gossip. Plus, you can enjoy a completely tangle-free life by charging your compatible smartphone with the Honda’s available wireless charging station.

Cutting-edge Safety

In addition to an image you can see, the 2018 Civic offers technology you can’t see constantly working hard to keep you and your passengers safe. Collision Mitigation Braking System™, for example, helps brake the vehicle when it senses an unavoidable collision ahead, while Road Departure Mitigation System uses cameras to identify road markers and take action to keep you from leaving the road. Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow function can intuitively maintain follow-interval between vehicles ahead, and Lane Keeping Assist System can detect if your Civic begins to stray from the center of a detected lane and take action to get you back on track.

Alternative Options

Perhaps the 2018 Civic Sedan’s 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space isn’t enough for your needs; If so, you can still get the same great Civic features with 25.7 cu ft of cargo space in this year’s Civic Hatchback (and even as much as 46.2 cu ft with the Hatchback’s rear seats folded down). If you're looking for even more room for your passengers and cargo, look no further than the 2018 Honda Odyssey, with three rows of seating for the entire family, plus everything they want to bring with them.
